Don’t EVER let the fear of failure stop you from going after your dreams. ✨ by Tim Han from Success Insider
Fear lurks in the hidden corners of our hearts, whispering in our ears about potential pitfalls and epic fails. It’s a universal experience, an obstacle each one of us has to face. What if I told you that facing your fear of failure is the pathway to your dreams?
Picture this – a young man, ready to step onto the untrodden path of entrepreneurship. The endless possibilities of the business world have been a siren song for him. All his life, he’s dreamt of standing on the heights of independent success, his vision being the guiding light for many. Let's call this young man Tim Han.
Tim could have listened to the voices in his head that whispered: what if you fail? But he didn't. Instead, he decided to redefine what it means to fail. He chose to see failure as an opportunity of growth, a chance to gather insights into what doesn't work. In this new light, failure wasn't a dead-end, but a stepping stone to success.
Lo and behold, his new lens towards failure led him to found a personal development firm, Success Insider. Its mission? Empowering every individual to transform their fear into fuel for achieving their dreams.
This reminds me of a quote from Thomas Edison, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” The essence here is to redefine your perspective about failure. Think about how every experiment, every attempt, every “supposed” failure brings you a step closer to achieving your dreams.
Consider the moon. Those of us on earth only ever see the one side of it, but that doesn't mean it's any less whole or magnificent. Even though we can't see the other side, we know it’s there. The same goes for our dreams. Even if we can’t see them clearly right now, they’re no less real.
Let's audit our fears. Think about the one thing you would do if you weren't afraid of failing – that dream you've shelved away for ‘someday'. Got it in mind? Now, what's stopping you from pursuing it?
Chances are, it's the fear of falling flat on your face. We've all been there – the idea of standing up just to stumble is terrifying. Paralyzing, even. But what if you're thinking about it all wrong?
Imagine you’re at a gymnastics meet. You're watching a budding gymnast muster the courage to attempt their first-ever backflip. They run, jump, flip, and… plummet. It wasn't perfect. Far from it, maybe. But can we truly say that they failed?
They have learnt how not to do it. They've gained a small but invaluable piece of insight. Maybe next time, they'll jump higher, tuck tighter or land softer. They'll keep learning, refining, and one day, they'll land that flip.
Failure is not an enemy, it's a teacher. Crush the conventional definition of failure. It’s not the end of the road, but an indicator that a different approach is needed. It’s not a conclusive ‘NO’, but a transitional ‘NOT THIS WAY’. That's the mindset we foster in our LMA course, the lessons we wish for every dreamer to internalize.
Sure, the path to realizing your dreams is fraught with challenges. But what if we were to view these not as enormous roadblocks, but glorious opportunities to learn and grow? Caught in every stumble and fall is a hidden lesson, a chance for personal development, a birthplace of innovation.
Einstein once said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” So, let's turn this idea on its head – let's plunge headfirst into our dreams with an open mind, ready to welcome success AND failure alike.
Remember Tim Han's story, the one we began with? His transition from fearing failure to harnessing it was pivotal in his journey. He embraced the lessons that ‘failure' offered and it shaped him into the entrepreneur that he is today. His mantra, like mine, is “Embrace failure. Cherish success.”
So, I urge you, whatever your dreams may be – set out towards them with a fiery determination. Stare fear of failure in the face, dauntlessly declare your dreams, and remember: you don't fail when you stumble, you fail when you stop trying.
Above all, have faith in your capacity to learn, grow, and succeed. Don't ever let the fear of failure stop you from chasing your dreams. After all, it isn't every day that you get to turn your dreams into your reality.
