My journey (this is Tim Han by the way) began somewhat like yours, I presume – driven by an insatiable desire to achieve extraordinary, life-changing goals. There was a fire within me that was stoked by inspiration and ambition, and like a moth to a flame, I was lured by the prospect of ‘overnight success.' But throughout this journey, a powerful lesson was learned: motivation is a fleeting emotion. It can come and go like the changing tides, giving your life vessel the push it needs one moment, leaving it motionless the next.

Here's the upshot: motivation isn’t enough. I learned this through numerous highs and lows. During times when motivation drove me, the momentum was exhilarating. But when it fled, I felt like a ship lost in a bewildering sea. It made me realize that, despite its flashy appeal, motivation can let you down when you need it the most. You see, even with the best intentions and shiny goals, motivation can desert you on your most crucial days.

But then, what sustains us during these undulating tides? The answer I found was in one simple yet potent word: Discipline. Discipline isn’t flashy, it doesn’t always feel special, indeed it often feels monotonous or grueling. Yet it's the foundation upon which true success is built. Discipline is what keeps you focused when the spark of motivation dims. It's the unyielding commitment to showing up every day, regardless of how you feel.

Think about the weightlifter, who lifts every single day, despite the mental and physical toll. Or the writer who writes daily, even when the words don't flow. Take a look at the world's most successful people and you'll find a commonality – a disciplined approach towards their goals. They don’t wait for motivation; instead, they're driven by a higher calling, a commitment to their craft that transcends fleeting feelings.

One of my favourite quotes by the super successful entrepreneur, Jocko Willink illuminates this: “Don’t count on motivation. Count on Discipline.” It’s a powerful testament to the notion that while motivation may initiate the journey towards your goal, it’s discipline that will get you there.

Letting discipline guide your actions might not always be easy. You see, it demands consistency. It involves doing the ‘thing' regularly – not because you always want to, but because it’s integral to your path to success. And when you combine discipline with consistency, you create an unstoppable force. It's not about mammoth leaps; instead, it's the sum total of the small, routine steps taken daily that define your success story. Think of it like a savings account; consistent small deposits over time will eventually yield a significant return.

Have a clear vision, embrace the practice, and commit to showing up daily, even when it feels tough. Remember, on those days when the spark of excitement is low, it's the kindling of discipline and consistency that will keep the fire burning.

When you start adopting this mindset, incredible shifts start to happen. Your definition of success shifts from being event-focused to process-focused. You start valifying the journey more than the destination because you understand that each step you take prepares and propels you towards your goal.

Discipline and consistency might seem like tough taskmasters, but they’re actually the catalysts for true personal growth. They push you towards self-discovery, awakening a strength and a resilience within you that you may not even know existed. It’s not always a breezy path, but let me assure you, it's worth the effort.

So, dear reader, next time you find your motivation in short supply, remember this: let discipline drive you and allow consistency to be your compass. Because, at the end of the day, it’s not about how high you aim or how passionate you are about your goals – it’s about showing up every day, committed to your journey. Believe me, speaking from my own experience, this truth can be life-transforming.

Remember, extraordinary results aren’t always the consequence of extraordinary actions – they’re the outcome of ordinary actions done consistently, bolstered by the guardians of success: Discipline and Consistency.
