Hey Insider, this is a very short video today as I’m still in Hong Kong. I want to quickly share with you something that I found quite funny and so true.

 

We came here to find that there seems to be an Instagram hotspot in Hong Kong. There are so many Instagrams that it’s crazy, right?

We were looking for this particular building, the one you can see behind me on the video, and we couldn't find it.

 

Now why do you think that was? I can tell you that it wasn’t because we can’t read a map, and we didn’t suddenly lose our eyesight or our sense of direction. I’ve already given you a clue, I’m sure you know.

 

It was because when we physically got to Hong Kong, we had a vision in our minds of what this building should look like, based on what we saw on Instagram!

 

The people who had posted pictures of it online made it look almost unreal, but in reality it looks nothing like that. It is just a normal, plain building.

 

The great message I took away from that is that you should never compare you life to somebody else’s online content. They are only showing a glimpse of their life, not the whole thing, so of course they look unreal and perfect.

 

If you believe the influencers and life coaches you follow online have perfect lives, they haven’t. If you’re trying to be like them and optimise your life to be just like theirs, you are aspiring to live in a mythical land.

 

Remember nobody’s perfect! So stop comparing your life to somebody else’s online, controlled content, which has been carefully edited to show highlights.

 

The only thing you should ever do is wake up each morning and focus on you. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself and the best you can be. Because that's the only thing that truly matters for each of us.

Today I’m going to talk about what confidence is and what it isn’t. I’m also going to share with you my blooper reel of how often I screw up when making these videos. But more on that later…

When I first wondered how I could be more confident, I took on the advice that people are sharing online as regards what they think confidence is.

As a result I became an arrogant idiot, trying to mask my insecurities and like a robot trying to always come across as perfect. I struggled to find a girlfriend because of that and I struggled to find friends.

I'm sure you see these people who come across like that. It makes me so worked up because it's one big lie in terms of what people are sharing!

Being truly confident is nothing like they are telling you to act, which is hiding your real self and trying to appear perfect instead.

I will share with you in my video today what the REAL secret to confidence is—it actually embraces your imperfections and the mess you feel like you are inside!

And I’ll show you why it’s great to be adaptable but not too adaptable.

I’ve shared so many personal stories with you, Insider—so many different areas of my life where I screwed up when I was younger. Such as when I was failing in school, when I ended up working as a toilet cleaner and so on…

All these vulnerable things I shared with you are probably why you connected with me, aren’t they?

If you want more connections and influence with people, it is vital that you know the true secret to confidence which I’ll share in the video today.

I'm also going to show you this a blooper reel which I published onto this channel some time ago, I just found it again. It is probably embarrassing but I am sharing this with you because behind the scenes I screw up so much.

Everyone screws up so I’m sure you can relate to it.

This is like a small segment of how many screw-ups really happen when I'm filming these videos.

The biggest mistake we introverts make is to assume that it's only the gifted few who are able to connect deeply with people.

We assume we can’t hit it off with people we don’t know, because we are perhaps shy and nervous, we don’t know what to say, we think we’re boring or we feel self-conscious.

I want you to realize you can absolutely connect deeply with others, no matter how shy you are, because I've been there. Despite all the speaking and meeting people that I do, I am an introvert.

I realized over the years that you can use psychology and mind hacks to your advantage. There are these five steps which if you adopt today, you'll notice a huge difference in your ability to connect with anyone you want to.

It seems daunting at first but believe me, if you take that first step and keep going, you will soon be much more confident when you meet people you don’t know. You will be able to connect with anyone and enjoy doing it as well!

So make sure to pay close attention to what I’m going to tell you. If you’ve ever wondered about these points, I will give you the information you need to do well in social situations.

I once heard this quote by Benjamin Franklin, which was along the lines of:

Sounds unbelievable, doesn’t it? But I can't tell you how true this has been for me. I spent most of my life wasting every single day and trying to escape from reality because I hated my work and I hated everything around me and the results I was getting.

Right now, if you feel like your job is something you dread—bear in mind that most of your year will be spent working—we're talking two thousand plus hours here! If you're just going to be looking forward to the weekend, that is one miserable life.

That's why in today's video, I'm going to share with you the three signs that show you may be wasting your life right now.

You may be scared to admit it, but remember it's through awareness that you can create a transformation, so pay close attention to the tips I give you.
